Dhaka: Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army General Waker-Uz-Zaman attended the closing and prize-giving ceremony of the four-day ‘Tiger Cement Chief Patron Cup Golf Tournament-2026’ at the Army Golf Club in Dhaka Cantonment here on Saturday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the army chief, serving as the chief guest, distributed prizes among the tournament winners. During his speech, General Waker-Uz-Zaman expressed hope that such competitions would significantly contribute to the development of golf in Bangladesh. He also extended his gratitude to all who played a role in organizing the event.
The tournament saw participation from 881 golfers, with Wing Commander Md Golam Mostafa Sarker taking the champion title. In the veteran category, Captain (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain was crowned champion, while Lt Col (retd) Iqbal Enamul Kabir won in the senior category.
Furthermore, Mrs Nila Aziz claimed victory in the ladies category, and Master Abdullah Rafian Kaiyum emerged as the champion in the junior category. The event was graced by senior military officials of the Bangladesh Army, the president and chief executive officer of the Army Golf Club, the chairman of the tournament committee, members of the executive committee, senior officials from sponsoring organizations, journalists, and other distinguished guests.
