Army Chief for Performing Polls Duties with Professionalism

Mymensingh: The Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh, General Waker-Uz-Zaman, today emphasized the importance of executing duties with professionalism, impartiality, discipline, patience, and citizen-friendly behavior during the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Election and Referendum.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, General Waker-Uz-Zaman made this statement while visiting Mymensingh, ahead of the national polls scheduled for February 12, 2026. The announcement was part of a release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate this afternoon. The Army Chief engaged in discussions with senior military officials, law enforcement agencies, and civil administration officials at the Mymensingh City Corporation conference room.

During the meeting, topics such as inter-institutional coordination and overall security management were addressed to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful general election. The Army Chief also provided necessary guidance to army personnel deployed under the ‘In Aid to the Civil Power’ initiative during his visit, as noted in the ISPR release.

Additionally, General Waker-Uz-Zaman laid the foundation stone of the Olympic Village at Trishal and participated in a board meeting of the Olympic Association. Present at the occasion were the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC), the Engineer-in-Chief (E-in-C) of the Army, GOC of the 19 Infantry Division and Area Commander of the Ghatail Area, Director General of National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC), and senior officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, among other military and civil administration representatives and media personnel.
