Army Chief Discusses Security and Development with Chief Adviser

Dhaka: Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman paid a courtesy call on Chief Adviser Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna here today. During the meeting, the chief adviser was apprised by the army chief of the country’s overall security situation and the ongoing activities of the army, a release from the Directorate of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said this afternoon.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, General Waker-Uz-Zaman also discussed various measures undertaken by the army to support national development and stability. He briefed the chief adviser about his recent visit to the Central African Republic, expressing hope that this visit would strengthen bilateral relations and military cooperation between the two countries.



The army chief further elaborated on the steps taken by the army for national development and stability, including updates on a recent high-level review and recommendations concerning justice for previously deprived army officers. Additionally, General Waker-Uz-Zaman provided insights into the ongoing senior-level board evaluating the matters of dismissed Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and other ranks.



The chief adviser was also informed of the Bangladesh Army’s initiatives in providing medical treatment to students and civilians injured during the July-August mass uprising, as highlighted by the ISPR. Praising the role and contribution of the army, the chief adviser provided necessary directions for future activities, expressing his hope that the army would continue to perform their duties with professionalism and utmost devotion to ensure the country’s sovereignty and security.
