Khulna: The West Zone Coast Guard (BCG) of Mongla outpost arrested an alleged arms mechanic from Dakope upazila of the district in the early hours of today. The arrested individual has been identified as Ismail Hossain, 24, son of Abdul Aziz from Daxinbag upazila in Gazipur district. Alongside the arrest, a pipe gun was seized from his possession, as confirmed by Lieutenant Dewan Md Asif, an officer of the West Zone Coast Guard. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BCG team conducted the operation after receiving information, targeting the Tagore Bari Kheyaghat area under Dakope upazila, which is adjacent to the Sundarbans. Ismail Hossain was apprehended after a chase when he attempted to flee the scene. Subsequently, a country-made pipe gun was confiscated from him. Lieutenant Asif stated that two cases have been filed against Hossain with Rampal Police Station in Bagerhat. The arrested individual will be transferred to Dakop Police Station for further legal proceedings, he added.
