Dhaka: Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the tragic death of seven Bangladeshi migrant workers from Atrai upazila of Naogaon in a devastating fire at a sofa factory in Saudi Arabia. In a condolence message today, the minister stated, "The untimely and tragic death of our expatriate brothers working in faraway Saudi Arabia for their livelihood is extremely heartbreaking. Their contribution to the country's economy is immense."
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister further expressed his profound sympathy to the bereaved family members of the deceased and shared his sadness over their sudden demise. He highlighted the importance of the migrant workers' contributions to the national economy and acknowledged the loss as a significant tragedy.
The minister assured that constant communication is being maintained with the accident site and local authorities through the Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia. In addition, relevant officials have been instructed to ensure the speedy repatriation of the bodies of the deceased Bangladeshi migrant workers.
He also mentioned that all necessary government assistance and compensation will be provided to the families of the victims to support them during this difficult time.
