Dr Aparup Chowdhury, Independent Director of United Commercial Bank (UCB), has been unanimously elected as Chairman of United Commercial Bank PLC in the board meeting held today at the corporate office of UCB. Moreover, Bashir Ahmed has also been elected as the Executive Committee Chairman of UCB, said a press release. Dr Aparup Chowdhury was former Secretary to the government of Bangladesh working consistently for 37 years with progressively increasing responsibilities in field administration, policy pool of different ministries and organizations as well as corporate bodies.
