Jugnipasha: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former lawmaker Mia Golam Parwar warned that ignoring the call for a referendum, due to pressure from political entities, could lead to a significant crisis in the upcoming national elections. He emphasized the immediate need for the government to issue an order to implement the July National Charter and announce the referendum date.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Parwar, speaking as the chief guest at an election rally in Jugnipasha under Fultala upazila, highlighted that not just the BNP, but several other political parties have submitted notes of dissent. He stressed that the proposals by the National Consensus Commission for a referendum, based on the July Charter, should be finalized without any additional dissenting notes, as it has become a public demand.

Parwar expressed that Jamaat-e-Islami supports the proposal for dialogue among political parties to resolve the ongoing political crisis. He reiterated Jamaat’s long-standing call for an all-party dialogue, including BNP, to reach a consensus, urging the government to mediate and stating Jamaat’s readiness to cooperate fully.

He underlined the urgency of the situation, insisting that the referendum schedule be announced before the national election schedule is declared. Parwar criticized those bringing new dissenting notes or opposing previously settled issues, calling it unjustified and against national interest.

Additionally, Parwar announced Jamaat-e-Islami’s readiness to participate in the national elections slated for February 2026, provided a fair and level playing field is established. The event was presided over by Jamaat leader Syed Abu Zafar, with speeches from various district and upazila leaders, including district secretary Munshi Mizanur Rahman and assistant secretary Gausul Azam Hadi.

Later, Parwar also addressed another election rally at Moshiari Southpara in Atra-Gilatala Union of the same upazila.
