Dhaka: Bangladesh Ansar and Bangladesh Police have advanced to the semi-final stage of the Ruchi 36th National Women’s Handball competition as the first phase wrapped up at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the capital today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, both teams maintained an all-win record in their respective group matches. Ansar secured nine points from three matches in Group A, while Bangladesh Police earned 12 points from four matches in Group B.
In today’s matches, Bangladesh Police triumphed over Madaripur District Sports Association (DSA) with a score of 39-7, leading the first half by 17-4 goals. Meanwhile, Bangladesh Ansar defeated Faridpur DSA 53-3, dominating the first half with a 25-4 lead. Additionally, Border Guard Bangladesh outperformed Dinajpur DSA with a score of 30-8 after a tighter first half of 7-6 goals.
The competition’s second phase is set to begin Wednesday. Nine teams, divided into two groups, will participate. These teams include Jamalpur, Naogaon, Jahangirnagar University, Panchagarh, Narail, Jashore, Dhaka, Bogura, and Gopalganj DSAs.
Following the second phase, the top four teams from the two rounds will compete in the semi-finals on August 24, with the final match scheduled for August 25.
