Dhaka: Police recovered the body of another newborn wrapped in a polythene bag from beneath a bridge in Barishal city on Thursday night. Al Mamun Ul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Model Police Station, confirmed that they recovered the body from under the C and B Bridge after receiving a call through the National Emergency Service 999.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the body was found discarded along with various clinical items. This discovery has prompted police to investigate whether the body was previously used for research or educational purposes. The OC stated that police have requested a post-mortem examination to determine whether any chemical substances were present in the body.
Earlier, late Tuesday night, police recovered the bodies of two newborns inside a plastic bag from a garbage heap in the city's Natun Bazar area. Mamun mentioned that police are investigating the latest incident seriously and will take legal action based on the findings.
