Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today emphasized the need for a world-class judicial academy for an efficient judiciary in the country. "You need to work with a goal so that honourable Prime Minister can inaugurate the foundation stone of this academy by November next after completion of land acquisition. I have my complete faith in you, now you have to prove my faith right," the minister told the officials of Law and Justice Division. Anisul was addressing as chief guest a workshop on finalizing draft of Annual Performance Agreement (APA) 2024-25 at the ministry. Presided over by Law and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwar, the workshop was attended by officials of different levels of the division. The law minister called upon the officials to buckle up to implement the APA and said from now on, meetings would be held in every three months to review the progress in implementing this goal. He asked the legal aid officers to hold regular meetings with chairmen and members of their own union councils to increase the periphery of legal aid. "If we can hold these meetings regularly, the government's legal aid service would get more publicity among the people. People will not come to get the government legal aid as long as they would not get familiar with this," he further said. The minister also underscored the importance of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) for easing case backlogs. Source: Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha
