Amu, Tureen, and Five Others Shown Arrested in July Uprising Murder Cases

Dhaka: A court in Dhaka has shown seven individuals, including Awami League presidium member Amir Hossain Amu and former law minister Anisul Huq, as arrested in various cases related to the killings during the 2024 July uprising.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the other individuals arrested include former ICT senior prosecutor Barrister Tureen Afroz, Shahjahan Khan, Kamal Ahmed Mazumder, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, and Dilip Kumar Agarwala. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan issued the orders after the police presented the accused in court, requesting their arrest in the respective cases. Following the court's decision, the accused were sent back to jail.

The court proceedings revealed that Anisul Huq and Zunaid Ahmed Palak were shown arrested in the Ismail Hossain Rabbi murder case, which was filed with Shahbagh Police Station. Amir Hossain Amu and Shahjahan Khan were implicated in the Monir murder case, also filed with Shahbagh Police Station.

Barrister Tureen Afroz was shown arrested in the Anwar Patwari murder case, while Kamal Ahmed Mazumder was implicated in the Abdullah Kabir murder case, both of which were filed with Mirpur Model Police Station. Additionally, Dilip Kumar Agarwala was shown arrested in the Anisur Rahman Ashik murder case filed with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.
