Dhaka: Md Tarek Rahman, member secretary of Amjanatar Dal, concluded his 134-hour-long hunger strike tonight at the request of BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed. Tarek’s fast was broken by Salahuddin around 8:30 pm, after which Tarek was transported to Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital via ambulance for necessary medical treatment.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Salahuddin Ahmed addressed reporters and explained that Tarek had been on a hunger strike demanding party registration. The BNP senior leader had appealed to the Election Commission to reconsider the issue concerning Tarek. Salahuddin expressed his hope for Tarek’s swift recovery and urged the Election Commission to ensure justice regarding the party registration matter.
