Cox’s bazar: Amite Hasan missed out on a well-earned century as Sylhet found themselves in a precarious position at 172-7 on Day 1 of their third round National Cricket League (NCL) match against Rangpur at the Cox’s Bazar Cricket Stadium.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the match commenced later than scheduled due to a wet outfield, causing initial setbacks for Sylhet. Rangpur’s Robiul Haque made early inroads by dismissing both Sylhet openers for single-digit scores. Amite Hasan then stepped up, playing with confidence to keep the scoreboard ticking, but his efforts were overshadowed by the ineffectiveness of his fellow batters.

Rangpur’s Abdullah Al Mamun played a crucial role in dismantling the Sylhet middle order, claiming 3 wickets for 55 runs. Despite Amite’s valiant resistance, his innings ended at 91 runs off 110 balls, including 11 boundaries, when Mukidul Islam Mugdho took a sharp return catch to dismiss him.

As the day drew to a close, Rejaur Rahman Raja was not out on 28, partnering with Naim Hossain Sakib, who was on 2, when poor lighting conditions led to an early stumps call.
