Dhaka: Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen attended the closing ceremony of the '8th China Ambassador Cup Wushu Championship-2026' on Sunday, where he presented awards to the winning teams.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the event saw the participation of over 600 attendees, including State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque, President of Bangladesh Wushu Federation Md. Saiful Islam Bhuiyan, athletes, and Wushu enthusiasts. Ambassador Yao highlighted the global significance of Wushu, emphasizing its origins in China and its embodiment of the spirit of pursuing excellence and self-improvement. He also spoke about the wisdom of 'harmony in diversity' and the concept of 'ceasing hostilities through martial arts.'
In his remarks, Ambassador Yao noted the growing popularity of Wushu in Bangladesh, which has fostered a new era of cultural exchanges and mutual learning. He affirmed China's commitment to supporting the development of Wushu and sports in Bangladesh, which he believes will contribute to building a closer China-Bangladesh community with a shared future.
State Minister Aminul Haque acknowledged the vital role of Wushu in the development of Bangladeshi youth and expressed his hope that the China Ambassador Cup Wushu Championship would continue to serve as a platform to inspire athletes. He emphasized the importance of using Wushu to strengthen bodies and uplift spirits, further enhancing the friendship between Bangladesh and China.
