Dhaka: The Bangla Academy has postponed the pre-scheduled date of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair-2026. The decision to postpone the date for holding the fair was announced in an official notification, signed by Bangla Academy Director General Professor Dr. Mohammad Azam today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Academy sources said a new schedule for the fair will be announced later on in consultation with all stakeholders, including publishers and others. The notification further cited a directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs dated September 21, 2025, which stated: ‘Necessary arrangements should be made to organize the Amar Ekushey Book Fair after the upcoming national elections.’
