Panchagarh: Aman paddy and rice procurement drive began in Debiganj upazila of the district today. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Mahomudul Hasan formally inaugurated the food procurement drive by cutting a ribbon at Debiganj Food Godown as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the food department will purchase 1,745 tonnes of paddy and 1,256 tonnes of rice from selected farmers. This year, the government has fixed the per kg paddy price at Taka 33 while the per kg rice price has been fixed at Taka 47, the food office sources said.
Upazila food officer Sudeb Kumar Dush, food godown officer-in-charge Md Alif Reza, farmers, and millers were present during the inaugural function. The initiative aims to support local farmers by ensuring fair pricing and reducing post-harvest losses.
