Khulna:Police have apprehended an alleged member of a criminal gang led by Roni Chowdhury Babu, also known as 'Grenade Babu', in Rupsha upazila of Khulna. The arrest occurred early Friday and involved the seizure of a foreign-made pistol and two rounds of ammunition.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the individual arrested has been identified as Raju Moral, a member of the 'Grenade Babu Group'. He is the son of Iman Ali Moral from Ramnagar village in the upazila. The arrest took place around 500 am, as confirmed by Khulna Additional Superintendent of Police Shiful Islam.
Authorities, along with local sources, revealed that Raju had been on the run for an extended period before returning to his home on Thursday night. Acting on a tip-off regarding his return, police conducted a raid on his house, resulting in his arrest and the confiscation of the weapon and ammunition.
Khulna Superintendent of Police Sarker Omar Faroque stated that Raju is a suspect in the Mamun Mir murder case and had been actively sought by law enforcement. He emphasized that Raju, considered an active member of the 'Grenade Babu Group', is currently undergoing extensive questioning, and valuable information has been extracted from him.
