Dhaka: The stage is set to hold the main Eid jamaat at the National Eidgah Maidan on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, as preparations are finalized to ensure a smooth and peaceful prayer gathering.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) is making all necessary arrangements for the Eid prayers, which are expected to be celebrated on Monday, contingent on the sighting of the moon. Administrator M Shahjahan Mia announced at a press conference that prayer spaces have been arranged to accommodate 35,000 devotees. Attendees will include people from different sectors, including members of the Advisory Council, diplomats, and dignitaries.

M Shahjahan Mia encouraged city residents to participate in the main Eid jamaat promptly, assuring them of comfortable and safe arrangements. The Met office has forecast no rain on Eid day, but preparations are in place for alternative arrangements in case of adverse weather conditions. Should inclement weather occur, an alternate congregation will be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 9 am.

Law enforcement agencies, including police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), will be on duty around the clock, providing special security arrangements. Additionally, measures have been taken to facilitate the ablution and sanitation needs of the devotees. A medical team and ambulance service will be on standby for primary treatment and emergency healthcare services.

The arrangements include ample drinking water provisions and comfortable carpeting, allowing devotees to leave their prayer mats and water at home. Entry to the Eidgah will be through two gates, with five exit gates available for departure after prayers. A separate gate will be designated for the entry and exit of women devotees.
