Bangladesh: The Directorate General of Health Services: The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has cancelled all leave for its doctors and employees across the country until the ongoing measles outbreak among children is brought to an end. A Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the DGHS confirmed this development today, highlighting the seriousness of the situation as the nation grapples with the outbreak.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the health directorate issued an official order regarding this on April 2. The office order, signed by DGHS Director (Administration) Professor Dr Jalal Uddin Mohammad Rumi, mandates the suspension or cancellation of leave for all categories of doctors, officials, employees, and health workers affiliated with the DGHS and its associated health institutions.

The order emphasized that the decision aims to ensure uninterrupted medical services and to facilitate measles vaccination activities during this emergency, which is marked by an increase in measles-related pneumonia cases among children. The DGHS is prioritizing the health and safety of children across the country as it navigates this critical public health challenge.
