Dhaka: Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain stated today that the current government, alongside the citizens, is committed to thwarting both domestic and foreign conspiracies against the nation. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Khalid addressed a reception for meritorious students organized by Baufal Foundation, Dhaka, at the Multipurpose Hall of the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) in Kakrail. He emphasized that a vested group, both within and outside the country, is attempting to disrupt the country's religious harmony. However, he assured that these conspiracies would be stopped with the support of the people and that no such plots would be successful. During his speech, Dr. Khalid described Bangladesh as a secular nation where people of various religions, castes, and creeds coexist peacefully, enjoying their constitutional rights. He reassured that citizens of all faiths could freely practice their religious rituals and that this freedom would continue without any obstacles in the future. Dr. Khalid further mentioned that the government would conduct thorough investigations to bring individuals or groups involved in conspiracies to justice. He noted that the interim government is progressing towards a national election, with the Election Commission already reconstituted, and the Chief Election Commissioner and other officials having taken their oaths. He highlighted that the voter list is being updated, and measures are being taken to ensure a free, fair, and impartial election. The advisor stressed the importance of reinstating the culture of democracy, with the interim government preparing to transfer the responsibility of governance to elected representatives. In the program, approximately 20 talented individuals, 120 meritorious students, and six families of martyrs were honored. The event was presided over by Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud, Chairman of Baufal Foundation, with speeches from former Joint Secretary Rafiqul Islam and Abdul Haque, among others. Foll owing the event, Dr. Khalid visited the central office of Bangladesh Jamiyat-Ahl-AL Hadith and Madrasah Muhammadia Arabia in North Jatrabari.
