Dhaka: Education Adviser Prof Dr Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar today announced that the ground of Government Madrasah-e-Alia in Dhaka’s Bakshibazar area, which was previously occupied during the tenure of the former government, will be returned to the madrasah authorities. “The process of returning the ground to its rightful authorities has already begun. The ground was taken over during the tenure of the previous government to set up a special court on the premises. It will be removed following due procedure,” he stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Abrar made these remarks while addressing the 246th founding anniversary celebration of Government Madrasah-e-Alia on the madrasah premises as the chief guest. He further mentioned that special development projects are underway for three Alia Madrasahs across the country, including Dhaka Alia, to improve their infrastructure and academic environment. Dr Abrar also assured that measures will be taken to resolve the shortage of teachers and the residential problems of students at Dhaka Alia Madrasah.
The event was presided over by Principal of Dhaka Alia Madrasah Obaidul Haque and was attended by other notable figures, including Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain, Secretary of the Madrasah and Technical Education Division of the Ministry of Education Rafiqul Islam, and Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board Chairman Professor Mian Muhammad Nurul Haq.
Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain emphasized the importance of madrasah education in establishing social and moral values in society. He described madrasahs as “factories for producing scholars and ulamas,” stressing that students should receive proper religious education to instill ethical values in the community. Khalid highlighted the government’s focus on religious education and efforts to modernize madrasah education to meet contemporary academic and social needs. He encouraged Dhaka Alia Madrasah students to pursue quality education with the aim of advancing the country in the future.
