Chattogram: Religious affairs Adviser Dr A F M Khalid Hossain emphasized the crucial role of Alems in state governance during a speech at the annual gathering and dastarbandi ceremony at Al-Jamiahtul Ahlia Darul Uloom Muinul Islam Madrasa in Hathajari upazila. Addressing the audience as the chief guest, Dr. Khalid remarked that the absence of Alems in state affairs has hindered the establishment of peace and happiness in the country.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Khalid urged Alems to actively engage with the public, fostering a relationship between the ulama-mashayekh and the people. He stressed that Alems should be informed about the people’s conditions and work towards reforming the existing state structure.

Dr. Khalid also highlighted the importance of self-purification, advising individuals to reflect on their faults instead of finding faults in others. He noted the transient nature of power and wealth, advocating for respect among individuals to gain respect in return. Furthermore, he reminded attendees of the importance of maintaining a connection with Allah and avoiding actions that incur His displeasure.

The adviser emphasized the enlightenment that comes from serving one’s teachers and the moral qualities acquired through the company of respected scholars. He encouraged maintaining good relations with the ulama and seeking their blessings.

The event, presided over by the Madrasa’s Director General Allama Mufti Khalil Ahmad Qasemi, featured speeches from prominent figures including Allama Muhibbullah Babunagari, Allama Nurul Islam Walipuri, and the madrasa’s education secretary Allama Mufti Kifayatullah. The ceremony also honored nearly 3,000 scholars who completed their Dawra-e-Hadith studies in the 1445-46 Hijri academic year with ceremonial turbans.
