Local units of Bangladesh Awami League and its

front organisations staged sit-in-demonstration along with agitation,

procession and rally in protest against the current nationwide destructive

activities and vandalism.

Large number of leaders and workers of the party took position at Shaheb

Bazar Zero Point this noon and held the agitation meeting vehemently

protesting the anti-nation conspiracy, anarchy and violence.

Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton addressed the

meeting as the chief guest saying that they will not allow anyone to

destabilize the peaceful Rajshahi.

He also mentioned that there is no justification of students’ movement at

present as the government has already accepted the demand of quota

reformation and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has invited the agitating

students to discuss their existing nine-point demands.

“We are staging sit-in-demonstrations and holding protest meetings here

peacefully but if anyone tries to hinder us they will have to bear liabil
ity

for their misdeeds,” he added.

He said the quota movement is not controlled by the protesters. So the ruling

party men are ready to resist them, he added.

Mayor Liton, who is also Presidium Member of the Awami League (AL), urged all

the peace-loving people and the party leaders and workers to remain alert so

that none can dare to create any violence and anarchy.

City Unit President Muhammad Ali Kamal, District Unit President Anil Kumar

Sarker, Muhammad Asaduzzaman, MP, City Unit General Secretary Dablu Sarker

and its Vice-president Dr Tabibur Rahman Sheikh also spoke on the occasion.
