Dhaka: Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam declared today that members of the Awami League (AL), along with its leadership and sympathizers, will not find peace until they acknowledge and respect those who were martyred and injured during the July Uprising.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Alam made his sentiments known in a post on his verified Facebook account, marking the anniversary of the July Uprising. He emphasized, "We will erase the stains of your nefarious influence from our soil and cleanse them with bloods. You will never have peace -- until you start respecting our martyrs and our injured, until you say sorry."
Alam expressed frustration that despite a 10-month wait, the AL members, leadership, and sympathizers have yet to apologize or join efforts to build a discrimination-free Bangladesh. He accused them of mocking the martyrs since the events of the previous July.
The press secretary criticized the AL men for disparaging the country's struggle, labeling the population as militants, and relying on the hope that colonial powers would return to support them in their pursuits. He stated, "Sorry, it won't happen again. July has taught us to be undaunted. July has taught us to be defiant against all odds. July has changed our DNA permanently. It has inserted a rare gene of bravery into our DNA and into our souls."
Alam vowed that the resolve forged in the July Uprising would lead to persistent resistance against the AL men. He reiterated the commitment to remember the martyrs and the atrocities committed, insisting that peace would never be achieved with the AL until they confront their actions.
He concluded with a call to action, stating, "We will fight you in our farmland, rivers and on the hills. We will fight you in the virtual world. We will unmask you as enablers of mass murders and robbers of human rights."
