Faridpur: The acting president of the district Awami League, Md. Faruk Hossain, was arrested on Monday evening from a house in the Jhiltuli area of the district town. He was subsequently produced before the court on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Superintendent of Police Md. Abdul Jalil revealed at a press conference in his office's conference room that former Member of Parliament Md. Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury Nixon allegedly provided Taka five lakh to Faruk Hossain to facilitate the success of the Dhaka lockdown on November 13. Out of this amount, Hossain reportedly spent Taka four lakh.
Furthermore, six cases are already filed against Faruk Hossain: four in the Faridpur Kotwali Police Station and two in the capital's Sutrapur Police Station. The Superintendent of Police also mentioned that a new case will be registered against Hossain under the Anti-Terrorism Act in relation to these activities.
