Dhaka: Police tonight arrested former Awami League lawmaker Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu from Barguna-1 (Sadar, Amtali, Taltali) in the city's Uttara area. Shambhu was taken into custody at 7:30 pm today in connection with multiple murder cases that were filed after the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, following a student-people movement. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of the Detective Branch (DB) of Police, confirmed the arrest. Shambhu is expected to be presented before the court tomorrow.
