Accra:A remarkable six-wicket performance by pacer Al Amin Hossain was overshadowed by a lackluster batting display, resulting in a 43-run defeat for the Bangladesh Under-19 team against Afghanistan U19. This match, held at Al Amerat Stadium, marked the third Youth ODI of the series.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh still maintains a 2-1 lead in the four-match series, having secured a 33-run victory in the first game and a super over triumph in the second match.
Afghanistan, opting to bat first, amassed a total of 237 runs before being all out in 50 overs. Subhan Zakhail spearheaded the innings with an impressive 81 runs off 95 balls, featuring five fours and three sixes. Shah Faisal Rahimi supported with a substantial score of 80. Al Amin Hossain's 6-60 helped to restrict Afghanistan from posting a larger total.
In response, Bangladesh's batting collapsed, failing to complete the 50 overs and being dismissed for 194 in just 38.2 overs. Kawsar Ahmed was the top scorer with 64 runs, followed by opener Abdullah Al Muhi with 61. However, only two additional players reached double figures, highlighting the team's batting weaknesses.
The downward spiral commenced with the early dismissal of opener SK Jarif Siyam for a three-ball duck. Captain Farid Hasan and Rakibul Hossan also departed without scoring, hindering any chance of forming substantial partnerships. Afghanistan's Imran Mohammadi took 3-45, while Sohail Khan and Lutfullah Mohammadi each claimed two wickets.
