Dhaka: The Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) today conducted the air-to-ground Firing Exercise-2024, also known as Exercise Flash Point, at the Rasulpur Firing Range in Tangail. Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan attended the event as the chief guest, observing the various activities, according to an ISPR release. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, higher officials from different ministries, as well as high-ranking military officials from the Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, and Bangladesh Air Force, were present to observe the exercise. Local administration officials also attended the prestigious event, which aims to showcase BAF's operational capabilities and maximize the utilization of its assets. The exercise involved all types of aircraft in the BAF inventory, including fighter jets, transport aircraft, and helicopters. The event's primary objective was to evaluate the effectiveness of existing BAF resources and infrastructures through tactical maneuvers, precision targeting, and coordinated firepower. Various fighter aircraft such as MiG-29B/UB, F-7/FT-7, and K-8W demonstrated their precision strike capabilities and agility in combat scenarios. AN-32 transport aircraft highlighted their logistical support efficiency, including troop deployment and airlift operations. Additionally, helicopters like Mi-17, AW-139, and Bell-212 showcased their adaptability in combat roles like air-to-ground firing, close air support, search and rescue, troop insertion, and tactical mobility. This exercise provides an invaluable opportunity for BAF pilots and crew to display their technical expertise and tactical acumen. Participants gain hands-on experience essential for maintaining readiness in diverse contingencies through accurate targeting and munitions delivery. The primary role of BAF is counter air operations, but providing close air support to sister services is also crucial. This exercise aims to sharpen pilots' skills, refine tactics, and improve operational efficiency, ensuring BAF pilots remain at the forefront of modern combat capabilities, as stated in the ISPR release.
