Dhaka:Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan has called on members of the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) contingent heading to the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo) to perform their duties with discipline, integrity, professionalism, and dedication to uphold the country's image.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Air Chief made these remarks during a briefing for the Utility Aviation Unit-23 contingent at the Air headquarters in Dhaka Cantonment. He emphasized the importance of demonstrating professionalism, honesty, and dedication in discharging responsibilities during the UN mission to enhance the reputation and prestige of both the Bangladesh Air Force and the country.

A special munajat was conducted seeking the overall success of the contingent's mission. Currently, a 134-member BAF contingent, equipped with four MI-series helicopters and various ground support equipment, is engaged in the UN Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO). The Utility Aviation Unit-23 will replace the existing contingent, as stated in a press release by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate.

Air Commodore ATM Irfanur Rahman will lead the new contingent. Of the contingent members, 23 departed for DR Congo from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on October 28, while the remaining 112 are scheduled to leave on November 4. The program was attended by Principal Staff Officers of Air headquarters, Air Officers stationed in Dhaka, and senior officials from Air headquarters and different air bases.
