Dhaka: Charg© d'Affaires of the Embassy of France, Frederic Inza, has announced that Air Astra is positioning itself as a 'serious player' in the fast-growing aviation market, marked by a considerable boost in its operational capacity.
According to United News of Bangladesh, a new aircraft was delivered to Air Astra in Bangladesh on Sunday by the European company ATR, which is co-owned by Airbus and Leonardo. This delivery was commemorated during an event held at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, where Frederic Inza highlighted that the acquisition of the ATR 72-600 aircraft significantly elevates Air Astra's standing in the aviation sector.
The ATR 72-600 is known for its reliability and comfort, making it an excellent fit for Bangladesh. The French Embassy in Dhaka emphasized the global impact of ATR, which has constructed 1,800 aircraft over the past 45 years and operates in 100 countries with 200 operators. France, like ATR, is seen as a reliable and trusted partner, sharing a commitment to addressing climate change. The ATR aircraft can operate using up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel, aligning with global environmental goals.
ATR's eco-friendly performance is appealing for airlines focused on enhancing domestic and regional connectivity, a critical requirement for Bangladesh. The newest airline in Bangladesh, Air Astra, received a brand-new ATR 72-600 aircraft as part of its fleet and network expansion strategy. This marks the arrival of the first of three new aircraft at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka.
Frederic Inza praised Air Astra's fleet expansion with the French-built turboprop, renowned for regional operations worldwide. Imran Asif, CEO of Air Astra, expressed gratitude to employees and government regulators for their support in the airline's growth trajectory.
The event concluded with a live performance of the classic song "Abaar Elo Je Shondha" by Shuvo from D Rockstar, creating a celebratory atmosphere among attendees.
