Ahsan Habib Palash Takes Charge as 12th DG of RAB

Dhaka: Additional IGP Md. Ahsan Habib Palash has assumed charge as the 12th Director General (DG) of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today. A seasoned officer, Palash’s appointment marks a new chapter in the leadership of the elite force.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Palash is a member of the 15th BCS (Police) batch and began his career in the Bangladesh Police in 1995 as an Assistant Superintendent of Police. His foundational training took place at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi, setting the stage for a career filled with significant responsibilities.



Throughout his service, Palash has held key positions in various units such as the Armed Police Battalion (APBN), Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP), Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP), and in districts including Rangamati, Shariatpur, and Narayanganj. His administrative and investigative expertise was further honed during his tenure at the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Headquarters, and he later served as the Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in Chittagong.



Palash’s experience extends beyond national borders with his involvement in UN peacekeeping missions across Kosovo, Liberia, Sudan, and South Sudan. This international exposure has enriched his perspective and approach to law enforcement.



In acknowledgment of his service, Palash has been honored with the Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM-Service), a testament to his impact and dedication to policing. Academically, he holds BSS (Hons) and MSc degrees from the University of Dhaka and has participated in professional training programs in countries including the USA, UK, Australia, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
