Lalbagh: Police recovered the body of an advocate, identified as Anwar Hossain, 30, from a rented room in the capital's Lalbagh area on Saturday. The discovery was made in a room located on the second floor of a house at 10/2, Fala Mosque Lane in Shahid Nagar-3. The body was later sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Lalbagh Division Deputy Commissioner Talebur Rahman reported that locals last saw Anwar on Thursday. The initial suspicion is that he died either Thursday night or Friday. Anwar was living alone in the rented room, and the police were alerted on Saturday morning when a foul smell was noticed emanating from the location.
The cause of death will be confirmed once the post-mortem report is received. Anwar had rented the room earlier this month for a monthly fee of Tk 4,000, according to house owner Monir Hossain. A CID forensic team collected evidence from the scene to assist with the investigation.
Police discovered Anwar's driving licence at the scene, which listed an address on 312 Jagannath Saha Road, allowing them to contact his relatives. Deputy Commissioner Talebur Rahman, accompanied by the additional deputy commissioner and the officer-in-charge of Lalbagh Police Station, visited the scene. The body was subsequently sent to the forensic department morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for further examination.
