Adv Juthi secures bail in case over SCBA polls violence

A Dhaka court today granted bail to Advocate Nahid Sultana Juthi in a case lodged over violence centering the recent Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) polls. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Ahammed passed the order as Advocate Juthi surrendered before the court and pleaded for bail in the case. Assistant Attorney General Shaifour Rahman Siddique Saif, who was physically assaulted during the counting of ballots of the election, filed the case on March 8 against 20 people including Nahid Sultana Juthi and former SCBA secretary Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal and 30-40 more unnamed people. The plaintiff in the case accused Juthi and others of forcing the election commissioner to declaring result without even completing the counting of ballots, snatching an iPhone and cash from his pocket, attacking and assaulting him with rod, stick and chair. The other accused are- Advocate Md Zakir Hossain Masud, Adv Shakila Rousan, Adv Qazi Bashir Ahmed, Barrister Osman, Adv Arif, Adv Sumon, Adv Tushar, Robiul, Barrister Ch oudhury Moushumi Fatema, Saidur Rahman Jewel, Oliur, Joydeb Nandi, Main Uddin Rana, Moshiur Rahman Suman, Kamal Hossain, Aslam Raiyan, Adv Torikul and Adv Sohagh.
