Thakurgaon: BNP Secretary General and LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced that Thakurgaon Medical College is set to begin admitting students by 2027. He stated that a dedicated team is currently overseeing the construction of the college hospital to ensure readiness for student admissions within the projected timeline.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul made these remarks during a press briefing following a lengthy exchange with district government heads. Fakhrul emphasized the importance of transforming Thakurgaon into a drug-free district and highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance local hospital services and municipal development. Additionally, he mentioned initiatives aimed at advancing agricultural projects, ensuring food security, and creating employment opportunities for youth and women.

Fakhrul also announced the launch of a pilot project to provide family cards in Rahimanpur Union, fulfilling a promise by BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman. Addressing concerns about corruption involving an interim government advisor and district administration employees, Fakhrul assured that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) would take necessary actions, asserting BNP’s zero tolerance for corruption. He also committed to developing the region’s railway infrastructure.

The exchange of views event took place at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room, organized by the Thakurgaon District Administration. Fakhrul concluded by urging a focus on forward-looking strategies rather than minor issues, highlighting the need for rapid progress.
