Dhaka: Police arrested actress Shomi Kaiser from the city's Uttara area in the early hours today. She was apprehended from a house on Road-6 of Sector-4 around 12:30 am, as confirmed by Deputy Commissioner of the Uttara Division Police, Rawnak Jahan. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Shomi's arrest was linked to a case filed against her on October 9. The case involved an alleged attempt to commit murder against BNP activist Syed Hasan Mahmud. The case, filed with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Belal Hossain, not only named Shomi but also implicated several high-profile individuals. These include ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former minister and actress Tarana Halim, folk singer and former lawmaker Momtaz Begum, along with 13 others.
