Dhaka: Acting Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, Barrister Kayser Kamal, has accepted an invitation to attend the National SDG Localization Campaign as the chief guest. The invitation was extended during a meeting with a high-level delegation from the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the delegation was led by UNOPS Bangladesh and Bhutan Country Manager, Sudhir Muralidharan. The group visited the Acting Speaker at the Jatiya Sangsad and formally invited him to the campaign, which is scheduled to take place at the Liberation War Museum in Dhaka on August 8, 2026.
The Acting Speaker expressed his gratitude for the invitation and highlighted Bangladesh's progress in women's development. He acknowledged the contributions of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia in establishing a strong foundation for women's education and political empowerment in the country.
Kayser Kamal also emphasized the role of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in continuing this legacy. He noted that the Prime Minister is undertaking initiatives that promote equitable governance and leadership, aligning with the objectives of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The meeting was also attended by senior officials from the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat and members of the UNOPS delegation.
