Dhaka: Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Mahfuj Alam today emphasized the necessity for the resolution of issues stemming from the 1971 war and urged those who were accomplices in war crimes to seek an apology.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Md Mahfuj Alam made his statement via a Facebook post on his verified account, under the title "Two Words." In his post, he insisted on rejecting the ideology of Pakistan for political activities in Bangladesh, highlighting that Pakistan had committed genocide in the country. Although Pakistan has officially apologized and is apparently willing to apologize further, the accomplices of these war crimes have yet to do so.
In his post, Alam also criticized the creation of narratives that favor genocide, insisting that any such excuses must be halted. He called for an end to sabotage by intervening with the "force of July" and urged individuals to approach the situation with sincerity.
Alam's post further pointed out that pro-Mujib leftist forces, described as the masterminds behind enforced disappearances and murders, continue to operate without repercussions. He claimed these groups are culturally and intellectually betraying July and are conspiring against its forces. He conveyed a strong belief that these factions, referred to as the "B teams of the League," will soon be defeated and cautioned against placing trust in them.
In an earlier post, Alam announced a decision to ban the activities of the Awami League, stating that legal provisions to this effect have been added. A "July Declaration" is expected to be issued within the next 30 working days. The government has decided to suspend all activities of the Awami League until the International Crimes Tribunal completes the trial of its leaders and activists. This decision was reached during a special meeting of the Advisory Council, presided over by Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
