Dhaka: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today urged the public to remain vigilant against a person committing fraud by posing as the private secretary to the ACC chairman.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the anti-graft body released a statement highlighting several instances where fraud had been committed using fake identities of the ACC Chairman, Director General, or other officials. These fraudulent acts have been used to manipulate cases or entice individuals with promises of immunity from charges.

The statement detailed how the impersonator, claiming to be the private secretary to the ACC chairman, has contacted individuals and former secretaries, offering them exemption from charges or cases. The ACC emphasized that legal actions have been initiated in these instances, leading to the arrest of several members involved in the fraud ring.

The ACC strongly advised the public against being deceived by phone calls, messages, or personal communications from individuals impersonating ACC officials. “If anyone receives such phone calls or messages, or learns of any information about fraud and irregularities, they are requested to immediately report to the ACC’s toll-free hotline 106,” the statement urged.

In addition, the ACC encouraged the public to seek assistance from the nearest ACC office or law enforcement agencies to ensure they are not victims of these fraudulent activities.
