Kushtia: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has initiated legal action against former Kushtia Zila Parishad Chairman Robiul Islam and his wife, Mosammat Banu Islam, by filing two separate cases. The allegations revolve around the accumulation of illegal wealth and the concealment of asset information.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the cases were filed by ACC Assistant Director Md Bulbul Ahmed at the commission's Kushtia office, following approval from the ACC headquarters. ACC Director General Md Akhter Hossain disclosed these developments during a regular briefing to reporters.
Robiul Islam is accused of concealing assets valued at over TK 37 lakh and illegally amassing more than TK 1.91 crore. His wife, Mosammat Banu Islam, is alleged to have acquired over TK 1.42 crore in illegal wealth. The ACC claims that Robiul, who also serves as a vice-president of the Kushtia district Awami League, exploited his position to gather illegal assets, subsequently transferring a portion of these assets to his wife's name.
