Madaripur: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today conducted a series of enforcement drives across Madaripur, Gopalganj, Dhaka, and Bogura in response to allegations of irregularities and corruption within government development projects and service sectors.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the proactive measures were taken to ensure transparency in the utilization of public funds and to implement effective strategies to prevent corruption, thereby safeguarding the public interest.

In Madaripur, an ACC team from the integrated district office investigated flood shelter projects in Rajoir and Sadar upazilas amidst claims of substandard construction and material misuse. Initial evidence of irregularities was uncovered at the Malek Mia Memorial High School flood shelter project.

Simultaneously, another team from the Gopalganj district office inspected the Kashiani Upazila Health Complex, following complaints of harassment and irregularities in service delivery. The inspection revealed discrepancies in records, unclean facilities, and absenteeism among medical staff.

The ACC head office initiated a separate drive at the Bangladesh Girl Guides Association to probe allegations of fund misappropriation and corruption. The team gathered documents and statements from officials for further examination.

In Bogura’s Dhunat upazila, the ACC responded to accusations of significant fund misappropriation through fictitious projects under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) and revenue funds. Relevant records were collected from the offices of the Upazila Engineer and the Upazila Nirbahi Officer for scrutiny.
