DHAKA: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has announced travel bans on five former lawmakers and their family members. The decision, aimed at preventing potential flight risks amid ongoing investigations, was disclosed in an ACC release. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the travel restrictions come a day after the new commission of the ACC commenced operations, with Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen taking charge as its chairman. The five individuals affected by the travel ban include Alauddin Ahmed Chowdhury Nasim of Feni-1, Nur Nabi Chowdhury Shawn of Bhola-3, Abu Zahir of Hobiganj-3, HM Ibrahim of Noakhali-1, and Nur Uddin Chowdhury Nayan of Lakhipur-2. The ACC's decision underscores its commitment to addressing corruption and ensuring accountability among public officials. The imposition of travel restrictions is a preventive measure to ensure that those under investigation remain within the country's jurisdiction while inquiries are conducted.
