Dhaka: A Dhaka court is set to deliver its verdict tomorrow in three cases involving 47 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and daughter Saima Wazed Putul, over allegations of irregularities in RAJUK plot allocations.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the public prosecutor for the complainant Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Mir Ahammed Salam, expressed confidence that all the accused, including the former prime minister and her family members, would be convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. He stated that the prosecution had successfully proven the allegations with testimony and documentary evidence against the 47 accused in the alleged plot allocation fraud. “We are expecting the maximum punishment, which is life imprisonment, for all the accused,” Salam said.

Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun of Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 had previously set November 27 as the date for pronouncing the judgment in the three cases, following the conclusion of
arguments from both the prosecution and the defense on November 23. Charges were framed in three of the six cases by Dhaka Special Judge Court-5, and arrest warrants were issued for the accused on July 31. On the same day, Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 framed charges in the remaining three identical cases.

Prior to this, on July 20, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib had sent the cases to trial courts after noting the accused’s failure to appear despite repeated court orders. A gazette notification was ordered on July 1, summoning 100 accused, including Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.

The ACC lodged the six cases between January 12 and 14, 2025, and submitted charge-sheets for all of them on March 10. The case documents reveal that ACC Deputy Director Md Salahuddin filed the first case on January 14 against eight individuals, including Hasina, concerning the allocation of a 10-katha plot in Purbachal. The charge-sheet later included 12 accused.

On the same day, ACC Assistant Director SM Rashedul Hasan filed a second case against 15 individuals, including Hasina and Joy, with the charge-sheet eventually listing 17 accused. Another case was filed on January 13 by Salahuddin against 15 people, including Hasina, Sheikh Rehana, Radwan Mujib, Tulip Siddiq, and Azmina Siddiq, with the charge-sheet naming 17 accused.

Furthermore, another case filed on the same day implicated 16 individuals, including Hasina, Tulip Siddiq, and Azmina Siddiq, with the charge-sheet listing 18 accused. Additionally, a case was filed against Radwan Mujib and 15 others, with the charge-sheet naming 18 accused. On January 12, ACC Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya filed a case against 16 people, including Hasina and Saima Wazed Putul, with the charge-sheet naming 18 accused.
