Rangpur: Noted thinker, writer, philosopher, and human rights activist Farhad Mazhar has declared that Shaheed Abu Sayeed’s ultimate sacrifice holds significant political and philosophical importance in the country’s history. “Martyr Abu Sayeed, by despising his own life, has entered an indestructible life by heroically letting his chest is in front of a bullet,” he stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mazhar made these observations during a discussion titled ‘Conversation of Mass Uprisings’ held in the virtual classroom of the Academic Building-2 at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR). He highlighted that Abu Sayeed’s sacrifice was driven by a collective intention aimed at sparking a mass uprising, noting that his legacy will be recognized not only in Bangladesh but worldwide.
Addressing university students, Mazhar emphasized the necessity of intellectual advancement to gain a strong position in global affairs. BRUR Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Showkat Ali remarked that the image of Shaheed Abu Sayeed with his arms outstretched in face of death is unparalleled in world history. He asserted that Sayeed’s deeds and thoughts will achieve global immortality, urging unity under the spirit of the July Mass Uprising.
The Vice-chancellor confidently predicted that BRUR, the university of Shaheed Abu Sayeed, will rise to become the premier university in the country. The discussion also featured addresses from university Registrar Dr. Md. Harun-or Rashid and Director of the Office of Students Affairs Professor Dr. Md. Ilias Pramanik, with participation from University Proctor Dr. Md. Ferdous Rahman, faculty members, students, and other stakeholders.
