Dhaka: Amar Desh editor Mahmudur Rahman stated that the martyrdom of Abrar Fahad has sparked an awakening among the country's young generation. He highlighted that Abrar's vocal stance against Indian hegemony and his subsequent sacrifice have galvanized the nation to rise against misrule.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mahmudur Rahman made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at a seminar on 'Anti-Hegemony Day.' The event was organized to commemorate 'Martyr Abrar Fahad's role against Indian hegemony' at Dhaka University's RC Majumder Auditorium. Rahman emphasized that although previous writings on the issue were abstract, Abrar's martyrdom served as a catalyst that awakened the youth and sowed the seeds for the July Uprising.
The program was inaugurated by Shaheed Abrar Fahad's father, Md Barkat Ullah, and chaired by DUCSU VP Sadiq Kayem. Other speakers included Humayun Quader Chowdhury, Rezaul Karim Roni, Dr. Mohammad Abdur Rob, Elias Siddique Islam, Athayar Hossain, Sharif Osman Hadi, Abrar Fahad's younger brother Abrar Fayyaz, and Raihan Salman Rihat.
DUCSU VP Sadiq Kayem remarked that Martyr Abrar has demonstrated how to combat hegemony and aggression, noting that Abrar Fahad laid the groundwork for the July Uprising. He further stated the necessity of building Bangladesh as a complete nation based on consensus. The event also featured a display of Abrar Fahad's painting by the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU).
