Narsingdi: Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested an abductor and rescued a schoolgirl from Ulipur upazila in Kurigram district at Kazir Char village under Palash police station in Narsingdi.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested individual has been identified as Md Nahid Hasan Biplob, 24, son of Md Nurnabi Mia of Umananda Karipara village under Ulipur police station in Kurigram. The victim, who is an SSC examinee for 2025, had reportedly been harassed repeatedly by Biplob. He allegedly made obscene gestures and unwanted proposals while she was on her way to and from school. The press release stated that Biplob attempted various provocations on multiple occasions.
After the girl rejected his advances, Biplob and his accomplices allegedly abducted her by forcibly picking her up in a microbus while she was en route to a private tutor around 8:00 am on March 25, 2025. Following her abduction, the victim's father filed a kidnapping case with Ulipur police station on May 17, 2025.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of RAB-13 (Rangpur Sadar Company) and RAB-11 (Narsingdi Camp) conducted a raid, rescuing the girl from Kazir Char village at 12:40 pm on Wednesday. During the operation, the prime accused was apprehended.
The arrested individual and the rescued schoolgirl have been handed over to Ulipur police station for further legal action.
