Ramallah: Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed Canada’s “historic” move to recognise the state of Palestine during a phone call with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Wafa reported Wednesday. Abbas expressed appreciation for Canada’s decision, highlighting its potential impact on peace, stability, and security in the region.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Abbas praised the recognition as a significant step forward in diplomatic relations and a boost to efforts aimed at resolving longstanding conflicts in the area. The official Palestinian news agency noted that this acknowledgment by Canada could pave the way for further international support and cooperation.
