Dhaka: Malian forward Souleymane Diabate and midfielder Sheikh Morsalin each scored twice as Abahani Limited began their Federation Cup campaign with a 4-2 victory over Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club at the Bashundhara Kings Arena.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the match saw Abahani leading 3-1 at halftime. The breakthrough came early when Diabate converted a penalty in the 6th minute. Morsalin extended the lead by scoring the second goal in the 33rd minute. Diabate then added another from the spot in the 39th minute, while Fakirerpool’s Santo Todu pulled one back in the 51st minute.
Morsalin netted again in the 63rd minute, securing Abahani’s fourth goal. Fakirerpool’s M Riyad responded in the 69th minute, but despite their efforts, Fakirerpool could not bridge the gap further.
Abahani dominated the game, particularly in the first half, ensuring a well-earned victory, while Fakirerpool struggled to find their form.
