Busan:Bangladesh showcased its burgeoning fisheries sector and investment potential at the 24th Busan International Seafood and Fisheries Expo (BISFE 2026), which took place in Busan, South Korea, from November 4 to 6.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Seoul, in collaboration with the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), participated in the three-day event. The expo featured 506 companies from 32 countries, with approximately 1,300 booths, held at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1 in Busan.
Globe Fisheries Ltd., a private company nominated by the EPB, represented Bangladesh by showcasing its fisheries products at booths K-29-30. The Bangladeshi seafood, particularly croakers, baim, and shrimp, attracted significant interest from visitors and buyers, as noted in a press release by the Bangladesh mission in Seoul.
A significant component of Bangladesh's participation was a high-level seminar on November 5, titled "Bangladesh Your Emerging, High-Value Sourcing and Investment Partner in Seafood and Fisheries." This seminar underscored the country's aquatic resources, fisheries production potential, and investment opportunities, including deep-sea fishing trawler modernization, cold-chain infrastructure, marine biotechnology, and joint-venture processing facilities.
The participation aimed to enhance Bangladeshi exports to South Korea and draw international buyers and investors. This initiative is expected to fortify business ties between Bangladesh and South Korea, boosting investment and export earnings in the fisheries sector.
