Dhaka:A Dhaka court has placed Ahmed Shahriar Reza Dwip, a friend of the deceased former Bangladesh Air Force Flight Lieutenant Tahsif Souri, on a two-day fresh remand in connection with a murder case related to Tahsif's death.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ripon Hossain issued the order after rejecting Dwip's bail petition and hearing a remand petition submitted by Inspector Firoz Uddin of the Tongi River Police Outpost. The court extended the remand to facilitate further investigation into Dwip's alleged direct involvement in the murder, as indicated by preliminary findings.
Inspector Firoz Uddin sought a seven-day remand for Dwip, who was presented in court after completing a previous two-day remand. Dwip was arrested by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) in Mohammadpur on the night of October 29 and was shown arrested in the case filed by Tahsif's father on October 30. Following his arrest, he was initially placed on a four-day remand on October 31.
According to case details, Tahsif left home on the evening of October 27 after being called by Dwip. They, along with a woman named Jerika Tahsin Disha, had dinner at a restaurant before Dwip parted ways with Tahsif in the Uttara House Building area. Information provided by Dwip led the police to recover Tahsif's motorcycle from Tongi's Mazar Basti area on October 30. Dwip admitted to accompanying Tahsif to this area, known for drug activities, late at night.
Meanwhile, Jerika Tahsin Disha is also on a three-day fresh remand in connection with the case. Tahsif's body was found by river police in the Rajabari Ghat area of the Turag River on October 28.
