Dhaka:Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today unveiled a special commemorative postage stamp to mark the historic National Revolution and Solidarity Day, which will be observed on November 7.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Prime Minister unveiled a commemorative postage stamp worth Taka 10, a first-day cover worth Taka 10, and a data card worth Taka 5. He formally signed the commemorative stamp and first-day cover and released them with a special postmark at his office at the Bangladesh Secretariat this morning, as stated by Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Zahidul Islam Rony.

The commemorative stamp, issued by the Bangladesh Postal Department, will be available for sale at all post offices across the country. The event was attended by Post and Telecommunications Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam, Post and Telecommunications Division Secretary Md Kamruzzaman, and Director General of the Department of Posts Kazi Asadul Islam.

November 7 commemorates the 1975 civil-military uprising that resulted in the release of the then army chief Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman from confinement. The day was traditionally observed as National Revolution and Solidarity Day with a public holiday but was later removed from the list of public holidays following a political change. The government has since reinstated November 7 as National Revolution and Solidarity Day and restored it as a public holiday, including it in the list of Category-A national observances.
